Board Election Procedure – DRAFT

  1. The Board will invite members to put themselves forward for election to the Board before each AGM where there are vacancies or retiring Board Members eligible for re-election.
  2. Candidates must complete the Board Member Candidate Form approved by the Board.
  3. Candidates who are not retiring Board Members standing for re-election must be nominated in writing by a member.
  4. Candidates must submit their completed form by the deadline set by the Board, so that candidate details can be included in the AGM notice.
  5. The Board may check that candidates meet the eligibility requirements in the Rules before putting them forward to members.
  6. The AGM notice will state which Board Members are continuing in office and which candidates are standing for election.
  7. If the number of candidates is equal to or lower than the number of vacancies, the Chair may declare those candidates elected at the AGM.
  8. If there are more candidates than vacancies, the election will be decided by ballot at the AGM. Each member present in person or by proxy will have one vote for each vacancy and may not give more than one vote to any one candidate.
  9. Successful candidates will become Board Members at the AGM and will be required to sign the Board Member obligations / Director Code of Conduct within one month.
